A highly esteemed, northern Napa Valley winery, with a firm commitment to excellence, seeks a passionate and dynamic individual to be responsible for their entire winemaking operation, including vineyard management and quality assurance to ensure the wines are of the highest quality and reflect the uniqueness of their estate vineyards.

A principal responsibility is to develop and manage the sustainably grown estate vineyards and direct their vineyard management company and consultants. Additional duties include: developing and managing the style and quality parameters and overall vision for winemaking in conjunction with their renowned consulting winemaker, overseeing all production related activities including maintaining organizational structure and a safe production environment, detailed record keeping, managing harvest activities, bottling, wine production related compliance, directly supervising the winemaking and cellar staff and controlling the budget. A comfort level to act as spokesperson for the winery is important.

An additional focus will be to work with management to establish the overall winery focus and goals plus sales and marketing strategies.

This committed individual will have a solid working knowledge of cabernet, merlot and chardonnay varietals and each wines relationship with its vineyard.

Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office are required and familiarity with Winemaker’s Database is desired.

The qualified candidate is degreed in enology and brings a minimum of five years of experience in creating winning, ultra premium wines. A complete working knowledge of winemaking practices, very strong leadership, team orientation, organizational skills, analytical and technical aptitude, proactive communication and effective management expertise, refined tasting, solid judgment and public speaking skills are required.
