Karen Alary, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Managing Partner

Karen grew up in an entrepreneurial family in Sonoma County, California, and is intimately familiar with the challenges family owned businesses face each day. Her passion is to help companies reach their goals through their people. For over 20 years Karen has worked as a human resources strategist for large national corporations, as well as small and mid-sized, privately held companies in the Northern California Bay Area. Karen’s clients regard her as their trusted advisor and count on her to promote their best interests. With a proactive, holistic approach to her work, Karen applies her analytic, strategic, and operational expertise to ensure her clients’ vision and objectives are clearly defined and deftly accomplished. Karen gives back to her community through her involvement in Sonoma Humane Society, WINE WOMEN, and other non-profits.

Arlene Smith, MA

Director of Training and Development

Arlene has over 20 years of corporate business experience, including eighteen years exclusively spent in training and leadership development. Her experience includes consulting with all levels of management in creating training strategies that support both the development of the employee as well as the goals of the company. Arlene has extensive experience coaching executives to drive leadership effectiveness and results.


Associate Consultant

Casi is a third generation Sonoma County native who has combined her love of people and business into a career in human resources and organizational development.  She has previous experience as an HR Director in a variety of industries including healthcare, engineering, transportation, and non-profit. In addition to providing the full scope of human resources expertise, Casi has expertise with corporate recruiting and labor relations. Casi works with many family-owned businesses to navigate successful leadership transitions between generations. Casi serves on the Board of Directors for the Sonoma County Child Care Council (4C’s) and volunteers with Dogma Animal Rescue. 

Linda Higueras, MA

Senior Bilingual HR Consultant

Linda is a creative, energetic, and responsive human resources professional with thirty years of experience in employee relations, performance management, succession planning, outplacement, recruitment, training, diversity, employee engagement and conflict resolution.  Linda is fluent in Spanish and has an in-depth understanding of cross-cultural issues in the workplace. Her professional background encompasses diverse industries such as wineries, manufacturing, financial services, and retail, and she has worked in U.S. and international operations. If you ask Linda about her hometown, San Francisco, she will tell you that it never gets old seeing the SF Skyline on the approach to the Golden Gate Bridge. Linda currently serves as a board member on the Brain Support Network and is a member of the Latino Community Foundation Giving Circle.

Holly Malone

Office Manager

With over eight years of administrative experience across different Bay Area industries, Holly has been an integral part of family owned companies, both large and small, as well as large corporate style environments. In addition to her professional experience, Holly is naturally organized and creative – two traits that keep the wheels of any busy office turning smoothly.

Diana Laczkowski

Senior Associate

After a culmination of more than 30 years of working as a human resources professional, Diana spends the majority of her work time assisting companies with interpersonal employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and mediation, group facilitation, and team building.  Diana currently serves as Board President of Food For Thought, a Sonoma County-based non-profit.

Carol Wilson

Senior Compensation Consultant

Carol Wilson has worked with The Personnel Perspective for over 10 years and has over twenty years of experience in compensation design and administration. Her expertise includes executive compensation, sales compensation, incentive program design, broad-based pay design, and equity pay analysis/design. She has extensive experience designing international pay plans and managing corporate expatriate programs. Her human resource experience extends to recruiting and employee relations.
