The Sonoma Humane Society, a safe haven for animals in Sonoma County, is searching for a Human Resources Specialist! Our compassionate team of animal welfare professionals seeks a dynamic, positive influence to guide our employee recognition and training programs, along with all general recruiting, on-boarding and employee benefits administration.

The successful candidate has experience with employee relations, compliance, workers compensation, performance review, IIPP and OSHA training requirements. You will deftly juggle the responsibilities of recruitments and terminations, organizing employee training programs, resolving employee conflicts and assisting the management team in all phases of Human Resources.

This is a full-time benefited position at the Sonoma Humane Society and begins July 1, 2017. The HR Specialist works at the Sonoma Humane Society animal shelter in Santa Rosa and must be able to interact with animals.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage new hire process, including job descriptions, job postings, and all new hire paperwork; review job descriptions annually.
  • Assure compliance with employee leave programs.
  • Manage, implement and evaluate all staff benefit programs. Verify and monitor eligibility. Manage COBRA benefits.
  • Manage, implement and evaluate all staff training programs.
  • Manage benefits orientation and enrollment, including but not limited to, annual open enrollment, billing statement review.
  • Remain knowledgeable on all aspects of the health, vision, dental, and life insurance benefits the society offers; report any insurance benefits changes to all employees.
  • Organize and maintain personnel files ensuring completeness, proper retention, protection, retrieval, and disposition of records.
  • Manage Workplace Safety Program, coordinate staff training programs to ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Maintain employee handbook and update as needed.
  • Consult with management on employee relations issues as they arise.
  • Direct and support the annual employee review process.
  • Manage employee recognition programs.
  • Oversee all EDD, unemployment/disability, and employment verification reports.
  • Research and develop resources that create a timely and efficient work flow.
  • Maintain organizational chart.
  • Assist with disciplinary actions including the termination process; manage and process all termination paperwork.
  • Assist with monthly employee newsletter.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State law updates and changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Growing Sonoma County-based wine industry supplier is seeking  a  flexible and adaptable individual who will be responsible for the coordination of benefits, onboarding, terminations, training, recruiting, payroll processing, development and implementation of policies and procedures, and all employee performance and relations matters.

This person will also work closely with the President and Controller on succession planning of staff changes, company events, and various ad-hoc reports and other support as requested.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels within and outside the organization.  This person will exhibit sound judgment, confidentiality, have the ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy, and successfully manage multiple projects at once. Some knowledge of Federal and State compliance is required.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of three years HR generalist experience, including knowledge and experience in payroll processing, including wage and hour knowledge, and benefits administration. Professional HR certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Wine Club Systems and Processing:  work with the Wine Club Manager on processing wine club shipments; manage credit card processing and special orders; manage phone and email correspondence

Compliance Coordinator:  interface with shipping companies to manage wine shipments; oversee winery compliance

Accounting Support:  enter all invoices; process payroll calculations; manage A/R and A/P; prepare cash bags

Inventory Control:  complete and track inventory reports for sales team and General Manager; maintain an accurate inventory of all library wines and wholesale accounts; ensure quality of inventory

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 1-3 years of broad winery office experience
  • Knowledge of winery compliance
  • Experience with Vin65
  • High proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Experience in wine finance a plus – with experience in bookkeeping or accounting and spreadsheets
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal communication
  • Requires a high level of self-initiative, dedication, and excellent organizational and task completion skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working in an ever changing environment
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting or related field, or equivalent

A well-established family-owned winery located in Sonoma County seeks an energetic, self-motivated Regional Sales Manager to oversee and grow the winery’s brand in an already established region (NY Metro area or within California preferred, but candidates in other regions will be considered as well).

Candidates must have proven experience and success in developing, implementing and achieving annual sales goals, pricing, and sales program strategies for the assigned region. This person will possess the ability to analyze sales trends and make effective suggestions.

Candidates will be expected to cultivate positive relationships with partners, vendors, distributors, retailers, and consumers.  Excellent communication and organizational skills are critical in this position.

Experience in the wine industry within a multi-tier distribution system and at least three years of wine industry experience at the supplier level, district manager, key account manager or other management level is required.  No other industry experience will be considered. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree; WSET or CSW Certification a plus.
