Tasting Room Manager

JOB SUMMARY

  • This position is responsible for the total customer experience Managing and coordinating all daily visitor appointments
  • Driving tasting room sales and wine club sales
  • Assembling a high performing staff
  • Developing innovative ways to drive sales and traffic to winery
  • Create successful referral programs with hospitality industry peers

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Tracking annual Tasting Room budgets and monthly budget reviews
  • Meet/Exceed sales goals: Wine & non-wine merchandise
  • Manage tasting room staff
  • Cultivate a high performing sales organization
  • Mentor and manage supervisors/staff, addressing complaints and resolving conflicts that arise
  • Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings, tastings, seminars and other events to enhance communication and teamwork
  • Develop effective sales promotions
  • Increase customer satisfaction

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of prior relevant experience in a managerial role is required; hospitality industry strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in understanding & executing winery business plans
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Passion for wine
  • Must be available to work weekends, special events and possibly holidays
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Superior customer service skills and service driven
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow-up and work in a fast pace environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with the marketing director to develop social media campaigns that help to achieve marketing goals

• Execute social media campaigns, events, and promotions to grow engagement, brand awareness and increase sales across all platforms

• Maintain our brand voice in customer communications across all our social media networks and relevant online forums

• Create, capture and share images and content that is relevant to the voice of our Brands.

• Manage local store marketing. Plans and manage events for company locations, including new product launches and brand announcements. Develop marketing materials and collateral for stores. Develop online marketing material. Create content for social media, blog, etc.

• Manage communication of campaigns and programs and help provide guidance to implement.

• Stay up-to-date on social media tools and best practices; monitor competitors and other social media leaders to see how they are using them to ensure we stay abreast with the industry

• Identify opportunities to engage with our core audience in new and innovative ways

• Monitor and respond to Facebook and other social media reviews, connecting with operations teams as necessary to ensure trends are communicated

• Oversee Facebook ads to drive engagement and page likes

• Create and administer sales outreach plans; sales promotions and influencer outreach for the brand

• Create, leverage and optimize content to drive engagement

• Monitor social media accounts and offer constructive interaction with users

• Analyze the long-term needs of our brands social media strategy and offer quarterly reports to management that outline any necessary changes to the digital marketing plan

• Monitor and respond to Yelp, connecting with quality and service teams at specific locations as necessary to ensure trends are communicated

• Communicate reviews and growth or declines in star ratings on a weekly basis.

• Facilitate the coordination of communication with users who have strongly adverse experiences.

• SEO maintenance of company website and Google

• Assists Director of Marketing with loyalty campaigns

• Provides customer analysis as requested by Marketing Director

• Updates marketing and HR materials as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have 3-5 years’ retail or service marketing experience with emphasis on social media

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field.

• Clean DMV and reliable vehicle.

• Expert Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and various other Social media advertising platform is required

• Ability to think on your feet and make quick, smart decisions

• In depth knowledge of social media management and data tools like, Facebook Insights, Facebook Ads Manager, Facebook open graph, etc.

• Prior sales or customer service knowledge a plus

• Photoshop and digital media skills a plus

• A love for social media

• Attention to detail

• Knowledge of Excel

• Ability to respond quickly to Managers needs in an efficient, pleasant & professional manner

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Have excellent written and oral communication skills

The ideal candidate will possess superior communication skills and an eye for detail, as well as the ability to maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of all wine club products and services for multiple brands.

Responsibilities

Concierge and Outreach (40% of job)
– Provide excellent customer service through courteous and professional oral & written communication.Lead concierge service for onsite experiences and private tastings. Work to tailor guest experiences to guest preferences. Always reply with same day communication (12hr rule) to insure high level of customer service.

– Coordinate tour and experiences for guests and Wine Club members to ensure an exceptional visit.

– Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of all wine club products and services for multiple brands.

– Develop program to make sure winery is positively represented at other wineries and businesses in the community and the Healdsburg/Sonoma County community at large.

Marketing Administrator (30% of job)
– Act as an eloquent ambassador for all of the winery’s brands.

– Provide admin support to the Hospitality and Graphic Team to achieve brand appropriate promotion for general Tasting Room sales, Wine Club, Tours, Private Experiences and Events.

– Coordinate product development, including new graphics, packaging and sourcing with outside vendors.

– Update and print tasting notes and tour materials to be used in the Tasting Room on a weekly basis. Elevate guest experience and education through printed materials, updating the look as needed to stay fresh.

– Track merchandise inventory in tasting room and order as appropriate (shirts, glasses, etc).

– Coordinate annual Marketing Calendar, including wine club production schedule and prompts. Maintain details for wine club inserts, emails, and deadlines.

Wine Club Assistant (20% of job)

– Coordinate wine club emails and printed communication.

– Coordinate wine club direct marketing; prepare shipment inserts, emails and communication in a way that promotes education and retention.

– Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of all wine club products & services for multiple brandsHelp promote all wine club special events & promotional wine experiences.

Web and Social Media (10% of job)
– Provide, research weekly content ideas for website and social media platforms.

– Update weekly social media pages with brand appropriate images, events & posts.

– Monitor google alerts for company brand mentions and articles.

Desired Skills & Experience
The qualified candidate will have two years of relevant experience in a winery and possess and demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills, have some knowledge of winery compliance and experience with Vin65, a high proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and a four year college degree or equivalent.
