This person will also work closely with the President and Controller on succession planning of staff changes, company events, and various ad-hoc reports and other support as requested.

This person will have the ability to prioritize work, adapt to shifting priorities, and consistently perform at a high level of quality. This includes general office management, meeting and travel scheduling, client communications and light IT support.  The Office Manager will also provide firm-wide communications support, working with RHG Directors to help maximize the impact of RHG’s economic and public policy research through web, social media and press. They will manage content on the RHG website, as well as through the company’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. This person will also help coordinate press engagement by RHG staff. The ideal candidate will possess sufficient graphic design competency to assist in the production of RHG reports.

The ideal candidate is intensely focused with a strong work ethic and has demonstrated the ability for critical thinking.

Candidate qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Interest in public policy, international affairs and in RHG’s specific areas of research

Assistant Production Winemaker

Our client is seeking an Assistant Production Winemaker to join their growing bottling facility team in Santa Rosa. All work is performed within the company’s production facility.  Because this is a production facility, there is no involvement with harvesting grapes.  Working closely with the Winemaker, the Assistant Production Winemaker is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all winemaking processes to ensure effective and efficient operations. The position involves managing cellar operations on a day-to-day basis, including carrying out wine movements and additions, maintaining barrels, organizing and purchasing equipment and supplies, performing some lab work, recordkeeping, crossflow filtration, etc.  The position involves a high level of responsibility, and also requires an acute attention to detail and the ability to organize and work efficiently without daily supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate and review all activities involved in the daily operations of the wine cellar, including bulk wine receipt, blending, fining, filtrations, sanitation of cellar equipment and bottling line, on-time delivery of wine to the bottling line
  • Prepare daily work plans and deliver to Cellar Supervisor
  • Coordinate with the Cellar Supervisor to manage cellar staff schedules and workflow
  • Monitor quality of work; assure staff conforms to organizational policies and procedure and government regulations
  • Maintain quality of bulk wine inventory
  • Assist in maintaining records for all internal wine movements
  • Assist in development of procedural and quality control manuals
  • Assist in the preparation of short and long term production plans and bulk wine inventory requirements
  • Provide day-to day guidance and oversight of Cellar Supervisor; actively work to promote and recognize performance
  • Responsible for understanding the ISO Quality Policy as well as the company HAACP requirements
  • Provide requisite ISO training to cellar staff and as needed manage the processing of updating pertinent ISO SOP’s, documents and forms
  • Coordinate bulk wine shipments as directed by winemaker, including preparation of bills of lading as needed
  • Keep abreast of wine industry trends including product development and quality evaluation

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Enology, Viticulture, Fermentation Science, or related field (or equivalent education and experience)
  • 2-3 years Production Winemaking experience
  • 1 year supervisory experience
  • Management and knowledge of bottling production scheduling and process
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email applications
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree; WSET or CSW Certification a plus.
