DEIB 104: Building Actual Inclusivity in the Workplace
There is so much focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging that we can sometimes get bogged down in the details and miss the objectives entirely. Through developing a common understanding of what inclusion means, a commitment to becoming more inclusive, and agreements to work on habit change including systems of reinforcement, inclusivity is an achievable goal for all organizations. Most individuals and workplaces do not intentionally exclude people unless they have a culture of discrimination which is rare in today’s era. Most workplaces are exclusive because they lack awareness of the impacts of behaviors and actions. Exclusion harms productivity, workplace culture, and individuals.
In this course, participants will learn what inclusion means, what actions and behaviors create exclusion, and what needs to be done to create a more inclusive workplace for everyone.
